My personal experience

As usual, I'd always test any products that I'd be selling and my experience with shea butter for the past 1 month has been fantabulous!

I came back to the UK on the 16th of August 2009 and realised that my skin immediately became dry and itchy due to the change of weather and hard water that I shower in. Sensitive skin I have, sigh...

I've tried many body lotion's, body butter's from well known brands that's for normal, dry, very dry skin, also medicated ones etc but nothing has worked as excellently as Shea Butter. It is just Amazing!

I've been using it on my face, body, hair and on my son. Yups we're both the guinea pigs.

My son had a nappy rash few weeks back and I just put shea butter and within 2 days, the redness reduced and rash subsided.

Also he started having face rash due to salivating from teething recently (it was on his chin, sideburns, lower part of the cheeks and around the mouth), I used Argan Oil and Shea Butter everyday and within a week, the rashes were 95% gone. He's still salivating cause of teething and I don't think that's gonna end any time soon, but I'm not worried! His face seems to be doing fine now and I only apply Argan Oil (when it's red) and Shea butter (at night, when he's asleep) occasionally.

Oh and before I forget there's a difference between REFINED and UNREFINED Shea Butter. Unrefined Shea Butter has all the good properties for your skin where as Refined has most probably lost most of its in the process.

100% Natural Unrefined Shea Butter

Hi everyone,

As promised, Asia Essentials has added a new product to it's line, 100% natural unrefined shea butter. A little history and information on it below:

History
1. Unrefined shea butter comes from the Shea-Karite tree in Africa and has been used for centuries to moisturize and protect the skin and hair. Extracted from the shea nut, the butter is produced by picking the shea nut fruits, drying, pounding and kneading them. Shea nut products are used in cooking, cosmetics and soaps. In addition, these nuts may be used as a substitute for cocoa butter in chocolate and other desserts.

Features
2. Unrefined shea butter contains large amounts of non-saponifiable fats. As a matter of fact, shea butter contains 7 to 12 percent of these moisturizing fats, while avocado oil only has 2 to 6 percent non-saponifiable fats. In addition, unrefined shea butter contains vitamins A, E and F, which help maintain the skin and keep it clear. Vitamin F also, found in unrefined shea butter, protects the skin from the elements. Unrefined shea butter also contains cinnamic acid, a natural sunscreen.

Benefits
3. Because of its high fat content, unrefined shea butter is the perfect moisturizer for extremely dry and cracked skin. Shea butter can be used for a variety of skin ailments, including psoriasis, eczema and sun-damaged skin. It also can help to relax muscles. In addition, it can be used in your hair and on the scalp.

Uses
4. There are many ways to use unrefined shea butter, including:

FACE - simply massage into your face as you would any other moisturizer. Unrefined shea butter may be used daily or whenever needed. A small amount will go a long way.
BODY - with the help of body heat, unrefined shea butter will absorb into the skin quickly. Apply it to your hands as often as possible to prevent cracked knuckles and dry skin.
FEET - add one tsp. of unrefined shea butter to warm water and soak your feet. After drying your feet, rub unrefined shea butter into them.
HAIR & SCALP - add a generous amount of unrefined shea butter to your hair and scalp and cover with a warm towel for 30 minutes. After, style as usual.

Storing
5. Store unrefined shea butter in a dry area at room temperature. Heat will cause the shea butter to melt. Unrefined shea butter has a shelf life of 12 to 18 months if stored in an air-tight container. When it's bad, unrefined shea butter smells like rancid oil.

Guerlain and Loreal uses Argan Oil

Hi everyone,

Argan Oil is well known and very popular in Europe. This is proven as international brands are using Argan Oil as part of their ingredients. One of the few are Loreal and Guerlain

Guerlain 'Terracotta' Sunless Self-Tanning Gel
Enriched with 100% natural Moroccan argan oil, Terracotta Sunless Self-Tanning Gel hydrates, protects and helps regenerate the skin for a smooth, flawless finish. This cool gel formula provides a warm glow to every inch of skin it touches. Upon application, it dissolves into the skin in a flash, creating instant color without streaks and eliminating the need to wait before dressing. With a subtle touch, it leaves a summery glow that's effortless to achieve.

ELVIVE Smooth-Intense with Nutrileum® combines nutritive micro-oils with a smoothing ingredient to nourish, detangle and calm your hair. Designed to soften and smooth the hair fibre, Nutrileum® neutralizes frizz, restoring manageability throughout the day. The long lasting anti-frizz action ensures manageable hair throughout the day.

For frizzy or unmanageable hair, L’Oréal Paris laboratories have created L’Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth-Intense Extra-Riche with Nutrileum® and Argan Oil for double-smoothing, anti-frizz action. The hair fibre is softened, becomes easier to manage and has long-lasting protection from humidity.

What is Argan Oil?

LOL sorry to have left it at the third post! I assumed the website would have been up and running by now, but unfortunately there's still a lil' tweaking left to do so I'm not gonna rush it.

Argan Oil has many benefits actually, which I found out along the way after using it for my sole purpose which was stretch marks.

This 'liquid gold' does wonders to almost every part of the body!

Put it on your face for the anti-ageing properties.

Put it on your hair and nails for that extra shine and growth

Put it on fresh scars or old

It works on pigmentation and eczema

It's even really good to use with babies

It also has a nutty aroma to it

It's just AMAZING!

Morocco trip

My search of Argan Oil began a while ago on the internet but nothing exciting came up and it was difficult to look for argan oil suppliers online hence and I finally made up my mind to go to straight to the source, Morocco.

I had been to Morocco twice in the last 2 years and when my friends found out I was going for the third time they thought I must be IN LOVE with this country. And you know what? I am. The culture, history and the simplicity. It amuses me how the children were playing in the street without a care in the world in and without the danger of being kidnapped or raped because everyone knew everyone in the village. Unlike stories I hear in Malaysia nowadays. SAD. *big sigh*

Saharawi. Was what I was called when I wore the tobe and applied the 'sahara henna.'

Funny story my last trip. I last went in March and my visa expired on the 18th of June. Given the visa was written in Arabic and French, I somehow thought my visa was a multiple entry visa. I thought wrong. I realised that upon arrival. Cutting a long story short, I was held at the airport for 6 hours, finally allowed to go in for 3 days (Monday- Wednesday) instead of 5 (Monday- Friday) and had my passport held with immigration.

Checked into our pre-booked hostel in Marrakech around mid-noon and continued our journey on a 8 hours bus and cab ride to Guelmim with a stopover in Agadir where the Argan tree grows. Remember, the tree only grows in the South of Morocco. I was really excited and full of energy but just the thought of the hectic-ness of the next 3 days was exhausting all at the same time. We arrived Guelmim at 12 midnight and stayed at a friend's. The next day was a trip to the Sahara dessert and meeting suppliers. It was not as simple as I thought. To do business in Morocco is definitely not a woman's place, but I was determined. All sorts of thoughts rushed through my mind; 'what if I get cheated? what if I have problems shipping it back to KL?' etc
I felt like I did so much in that one day that I've been there for a week. It was crazy! but it was definitely worth it!

Wednesday 12 midnight was our 9 hours ride back to Marrakech. Checked out, had lunch and to the airport we headed. Short and sweet trip, but looking forward to receiving the Argan oil. The journey didn't end there, I got back to the UK and sent the oil for laboratory testing to confirm the purity of the oil.

So guys the great news is this 'liquid gold' is arriving you hopefully by early September. Don't hold your breath and make sure you place your orders and share the joy of this oil with family members, fellow friends, colleagues and anyone you think might benefit from the greatness of this oil!
