My search of Argan Oil began a while ago on the internet but nothing exciting came up and it was difficult to look for argan oil suppliers online hence and I finally made up my mind to go to straight to the source, Morocco.
I had been to Morocco twice in the last 2 years and when my friends found out I was going for the third time they thought I must be IN LOVE with this country. And you know what? I am. The culture, history and the simplicity. It amuses me how the children were playing in the street without a care in the world in and without the danger of being kidnapped or raped because everyone knew everyone in the village. Unlike stories I hear in Malaysia nowadays. SAD. *big sigh*

Saharawi. Was what I was called when I wore the tobe and applied the 'sahara henna.'
Funny story my last trip. I last went in March and my visa expired on the 18th of June. Given the visa was written in Arabic and French, I somehow thought my visa was a multiple entry visa. I thought wrong. I realised that upon arrival. Cutting a long story short, I was held at the airport for 6 hours, finally allowed to go in for 3 days (Monday- Wednesday) instead of 5 (Monday- Friday) and had my passport held with immigration.
Checked into our pre-booked hostel in Marrakech around mid-noon and continued our journey on a 8 hours bus and cab ride to Guelmim with a stopover in Agadir where the Argan tree grows. Remember, the tree only grows in the South of Morocco. I was really excited and full of energy but just the thought of the hectic-ness of the next 3 days was exhausting all at the same time. We arrived Guelmim at 12 midnight and stayed at a friend's. The next day was a trip to the Sahara dessert and meeting suppliers. It was not as simple as I thought. To do business in Morocco is definitely not a woman's place, but I was determined. All sorts of thoughts rushed through my mind; 'what if I get cheated? what if I have problems shipping it back to KL?' etc

I felt like I did so much in that one day that I've been there for a week. It was crazy! but it was definitely worth it!
Wednesday 12 midnight was our 9 hours ride back to Marrakech. Checked out, had lunch and to the airport we headed. Short and sweet trip, but looking forward to receiving the Argan oil. The journey didn't end there, I got back to the UK and sent the oil for laboratory testing to confirm the purity of the oil.
So guys the great news is this 'liquid gold' is arriving you hopefully by early September. Don't hold your breath and make sure you place your orders and share the joy of this oil with family members, fellow friends, colleagues and anyone you think might benefit from the greatness of this oil!
